Norman was born in in Cheshire and joined the RAF just before WWII. He was awarded his DFC for his defence of the troops at the time of Dunkirk. He had a distinguished career ending the war as a Wing Commander. He was demobbed, but rejoined after a couple of years remaining in the RAF until 1958. He worked for Leonard Cheshire for a couple of years before joining the Catholic religious order of the Society of Jesus ( sometimes known 'The Jesuits') as a Brother in 1960. He worked in various works and ministries from that time, mostly in the UK. He died in Boscombe in 2014.
