I have in my possession a cardboard citation for the granting of chieftainship to Commander Robert Tatton Bower, Unionist MP for Cleveland, Yorkshire, as the Seriki of Olubadan dated 21st Dec. 1938. It is illustrated by 5 hand painted images and I can only presume that it is genuine. There are 18 signatories named although no actual signatures appear. It was found in my house in Wiltshire and has no value for me. If any family member would like to have it, they could contact me as below.

Robert Tatton Bower was my father. I am the youngest of his 8 children.six of whom are still living.
His Father Sir Robert Lister Bower was made an Honoury Chief in Nigeria i.and my father and aunt (Constance Bower) went to Nigeria in 1938 for the unveiling of a statue of my Grandfather.
.My Grandfather exploits in while he was part of the Nile and Sudan expeditions in 1882 and 1885 were well documented,
In 1893 he was British Resident Commissioner In the western region of the Nigerian Protectrates in West Africa.
As children we were always told that Edgar Wallace's Sanders of the River was based on my grandfather's life in West Africa
More information on my Grandfather is available on Wikepedia.
I have recently been looking for more of my fathers' family history after publication of some of his letters to his parents describing his experiences at the Battle of Jutland.
I would to have this.
