Scottish-born comedian and impressionist. Spent three years at Glasgow Citizens Theatre before moving to London in 1959. Films include Very Important Person (1961) and The Fast Lady (1963). First TV series On The Bright Side (1959-60) was followed by The Stanley Baxter Show (1963, 1967-8, 1971), The Stanley Baxter Picture Show (1972) and The Stanley Baxter Series (1981).
