Dame Heather Victoria Rabbatts

Jamaican-born British lawyer. She attended the London School of Economics, beginning her career as a barrister. From 1987 she worked in local government, bringing about significant changes in housing and education in Lambeth, Merton, Hammersmith and Fulham. She was the youngest local authority chief executive in the country. In 2002 she moved into media heading Channel 4's Educational programme. Not afraid of a challenge, the lifelong Arsenal fan, entered the world of sport in 2006 becoming executive deputy chair of Millwall FC. She was the first female to be appointed as a director of The Football Association. She was appointed CBE in the 2000 and DBE in the 2016 for services to football and equality.
