David Seidner

(1957-1999), Photographer

Artist of 1 portrait
David Seidner left Los Angeles at the age of seventeen and travelled to Paris, where he shot his first magazine cover at nineteen, had his first one man show at twenty-one and signed a two-year exclusive contract with the house of Yves Saint Laurent at twenty-two. His photography belonged to the tradition of the grand formal portrait, and can be traced back to the society painting of the turn of the last century, often evoking classical painters and sculptors. He worked continuously throughout his career for magazines such as Vogue, The New York Times, Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair. His photographs of fashion and society figures are collected by museums and major private collectors around the world.
