Harriet Harman

(1950-), Politician; Deputy leader of the Labour Party and MP for Camberwell & Peckham

Harman is a British Labour Party politician. She has been MP for Peckham and Camberwell (for Peckham 1982-97) since 1982. She became Deputy Leader of the Labour Party in 2007. Following the resignation of Gordon Brown in 2010, Harman held the position of Leader of the Labour Party and Leader of the Oppostion until Ed Miliband won the Labour leadership election later that year. She held this position a second time after Miliband resigned in 2015. Publications include Justice Deserted: the subversion of the jury (1979) and The Century Gap (1993).
