Comedian and entertainer. Throughout his sixty-year career in British comedy, Dodd appeared on radio, television and theatre, entertaining family audiences with Diddy Men, tickle-stick (feather duster) and the catchphrase 'How tickled I am'. He made his professional debut in 1954 at the Empire theatre, Nottingham as Professor Yaffle Chuckabutty, Operatic Tenor and Sausage Knotter. The long running BBC series The Ken Dodd Show established Dodd as one of the leading comedians of his day. In 1965 he held a successful forty-two week season at the London Palladium and gained a number one single in the pop charts with 'Tears'. He was knighted in 2017.
