Landy is an artist who uses found objects to represent the relationship between art and commodity. He studied at Goldsmith's College (1985-88) with other of the Young British Artists and his work was included in their group exhibition, Freeze (1988). Considered to be one of Britain's leading contemporary artists, Landy's works include large-scale installations; Scrap Heap Services (1995), Break Down (2001), in which he systematically shredded all his possessions over a week in a disused department store in Oxford Street and Semi-Detached (2004) as well as drawing projects such as Nourishment (2002).
