Art Historian and Curator of the Photograph Collection at the Warburg Institute from 1971 to 1991, where she was previously Assistant Curator and is now an Honorary Fellow. Lecturer in the History of Art at Reading University from 1958 to 1964. Serves on several committees including the National Art Collections Fund and The Burlington Magazine. A Trustee of the Wallace Collection since 1989. Publications include The Expression of the Passions (1994) and Gold, Silver and Bronze: metal sculpture of the Roman Baroque (1996).
