Timothy Birdsall
(1936-1963), CartoonistSitter in 2 portraits
Cartoonist. Birdsall attended Cambridge University where he met Christopher Booker. Birdsall was a regular contributor to Variety (1957-8) and The Sunday Times (1960-2), before he began to produce intricately-drawn double page spreads for Private Eye in 1962. He achieved his largest audience, working alongside other Private Eye staff, as resident cartoonist on the satirical TV show That Was The Week That Was (1963), presented by David Frost. He died of leukaemia at the age of 27.

He attended Sedbergh School in Yorkshire
