Viviana Durante

Born in Rome, Durante studied at The Royal Ballet School and joined the Company in 1984. Promoted to principal at the age of twenty-one, she danced all the major classical roles, including Giselle, Odette/Odile and Aurora and the title roles in MacMillan's ballets Manon, Anastasia and Romeo and Juliet. Admired for her dramatic interpretations, she created roles in MacMillan's Winter Dreams (1991) and The Judas Tree (1992), in which she appeared opposite Mukhamedov, and with Bruce Sansom in Bintley's Tombeaux (1993). Since leaving the Company she has performed all over the world as a guest artist.
