Hi there, the lady in question was my Great Grandmother. Apparently, so the story goes, she died in Madeira in 1968. Her son, Sir William Chaytor went over to Madiera to collect her ashes. On returning to England, he stopped off at a pub and whilst he was having a drink, someone stole his car, with Lady Isobel's ashes in the boot.
So, as the story continues, he didn't admit to losing her ashes and used ashes from a fireplace instead, which are now intered at Witton Castle. However, she is still travelling in someone's car boot. Still the adventurer!!
