Hopkins worked for Norman Foster before starting a practice with his wife Patty in 1976. The ability to successfully link modern design with historic settings has been a feature of many of their buildings including the Mound Stand at Lord's Cricket Ground (1987) and the new opera house at Glyndebourne (1994).
