Anish Kapoor (1954-), Artist
Sitter in 5 portraits
Sculptor. 1991 Turner Prize winner, Kapoor came to prominence during the 1980's. His work combines elements of Eastern and Western cultures, making sculptures with both natural and man made materials. His recent work has taken scale as an important consideration. At Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art he created Tratantra, a huge pvc structure stretched within the building during reconstruction and most recently he worked with the immense space of the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern.
