Shoe designer born in the Canary Islands. 'Manolos' play a starring role in Candace Bushnell's Sex in the City. The subject of a retrospective at the Design Museum in 2003, Blahnik started out as a theatre designer but was advised by Diana Vreeland to turn his attention to fashion. Blahnik has collaborated with fashion designers from Ossie Clark to John Galliano and Dior.
