Katherine Lilian Wailes-Fairbairn (née Smith) is the mother of Hilda Lorna Wailes Fairbairn (Johnstone), who competed as an equestrian in a number of Olympic Games, starting in 1956. https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/jo/lorna-johnstone-1.html
As such, she was one of the first women to compete in the equestrian events in the modern Olympic Games.
