Son of screen legend Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas was a TV star in the early 1970s. Produced One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in 1975, for which he won an oscar, and starred in The China Syndrome (1979) and Romancing the Stone (1984). Won his second oscar for his role as Gordon Gekko, a ruthless stockbroker, in Wall Street (1987). Also starred in Fatal Attraction (1987) and Basic Instinct (1992). Fervent campaigner for nuclear disarmament and named as United Nations Messenger of Peace. Married Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000.
