William Mackinder is the author of the 1927 novel Bone Street, describing the upbringing and working life of a young working class man in the Industrial North of England at the turn of the 20th century. The wool textile mills of West Yorkshire, the fishing trawlers of Hull and the poverty of unemployment in particular are described in some detail.
