(1857-1934), Anaesthetist; first wife of Sir James Berry; daughter of S.S. DickinsonSitter in 6 portraits
Attended Bedford College in 1884 studying physics, chemistry, botany, biology and physiology. Practised in London hospitals and married surgeon Sir James Berry in 1891. Together they described their work during the First World War in A Red Cross Unit in Serbia (1916), where they established six hospitals for wounded soldiers and refugees for the Anglo-Serbian hospital unit. Anaesthetist to the Royal Free Hospital, Assistant Medical Officer (Education) to the London County Council, President of the Association of Registered Medical Women and Honorary Secretary of the Anaesthesia Section of the Royal Society of Medicine. On her death she left £1000 to the fund for medical scholarships for Serbian girls.
