Ulric Cross

(1917-2013), Sqaudron Leader; wartime Navigator; Judge; Diplomat

Sitter in 2 portraits
One of 250 Trinidadians who joined the RAF in the Second World War. In 1941 Cross acted as a navigator on Mosquito aircraft and flew on 80 operational flights over France and Germany. He retired from the RAF as Squadron Leader in 1946, having been awarded the DSO (Distinguished Service Order) and DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross). Subsequently he became a lawyer and spent 15 years in Africa before retiring in 1993 to his native Trinidad. He also served as a High Court and Appeal Court judge in Trinidad as well as High Commissioner for Trinidad and Tobago to London (1990-93).
