Key compositions include Sonnets to Orpheus (1979) and The Glory and the Dream (2001). His film scores include Murder on the Orient Express (1974) and Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994). Bennett's interest in the avant-garde was aroused by lessons with Elisabeth Lutyens and his studies in Paris with Pierre Boulez.
