Brenda Herdman

, Photographer

Artist of 5 portraits
Brenda Herdman has been working with cameras since she was given her first Brownie box camera at the age of seven, in India, and discovered the fascination of a world in black and white. Later, in London, she became apprenticed to Yevonde, gaining both studio and darkroom experience in a somewhat eccentric way. She has subsequently worked freelance doing book illustration and landscapes as well as portraiture. She has photographed, among others, Edward Bawden, Enid Marx, Edward James in Mexico, and worked with her husband, Robin Herdman, on the catalogue raisonné of Anthony Gross.
