David Cobley is an English painter who studied at Liverpool and Northampton schools of art in the 1970s. A member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, he has shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and has been a finalist in the BP Portrait Award and the John Player Award. Cobley was shortlisted for the Holburne Portrait Prize in 2004 for his portrait of Ken Dodd, now part of the National Portrait Gallery's collection.
