Newbey Lowson was J.M.W Turner's travelling companion in his tour of the Alps in 1802. Lowson also accompanied Lord Darlington on a continental tour later in the century. Cecilia Powell has researched Lowson and published her findings in Turner Society news No 54 Feb 1990 p 12
