Rap singer, songwriter and DJ. Dylan Mills grew up in a high-rise estate in Bow, East London and was named 'rascal' by his teachers. He began rapping in the UK garage style and was encouraged to develop his musical talents by his teacher Tim Smith who let him use the computer at the back of the classroom. In 2003 his first single I Luv U reached number 29 in the UK charts, followed by Fix Up, Look Sharp, which went to number 17. In 2003, aged 19, Dizzee won the £20,000 Mercury Music Prize for his debut album Boy in Da Corner. Dizzee Rascal's second album Showtime, released in September 2004, achieved gold status in the UK selling over 100000 copies.
