(1897-1967), Physicist and Nobel Prize winnerSitter in 16 portraits
Cockcroft with E.T.S. Walton was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics (1951) for splitting the atom. He directed research projects for developing atomic energy at Harwell, and in Canada.
