Miliband studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, and Political Science at MIT, where he was a Kennedy Scholar. Elected MP for South Shields in 2001. He was previously Head of the Prime Minister's Policy Unit, Research Fellow at the Institute for Policy Research (1989-94) and Secretary of the Commission on Social Justice (1992-4).
