Marion Hood (née Sarah Ann Isaac)

Actress and singer. Born Sarah Ann Isaac in Liverpool, she made her first appearances on the music hall stage at the age of eleven under the name Marion Isaac. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music and made her London stage début in 1880 as 'Mabel' in The Pirates of Penzance. After touring the country as 'Marguerite' in Faust she performed at the Gaiety Theatre appearing in Billee Taylor (1885) and Little Jack Sheppard (1885-6) and created the acclaimed title role in Stephenson and Cellier's Dorothy (1886). She twice toured America with Gaiety Companies and in 1891 returned to the Opera Comique in a burlesque of Joan of Arc.
