Wilhelm Camphausen was renowned in Germany as a patriotic historical and battle painter with works such as 'Prince Eugene of Savoy at the Battle of Belgrade' (now at the Cologne Museum). However, he was also interested in similar events outside his own borders, and the painting 'Flight of Charles II after the Battle of Worcester' is now at the Berlin National Gallery.
