Comedy actress. Phillips studied Italian at Oxford University and began her acting career touring the country in small theatre productions. Appearing in television comedies and sketch shows since 1995, she first came to prominence as Sophie in I'm Alan Partridge (1997). In 1999, she collaborated with Doon Mackichan and Fiona Allen in the comedy sketch series Smack The Pony. She played Shazza in the films Bridget Jones Diary (2001) and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), and the lead role of Katie Nash in the BBC drama Rescue Me (2002).
