Fritha Chacksfield and I were at boarding school together in 1962/63 at the Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Ashbourne. We lived at The Mansion, with Mr. Kimmens (Headmaster) and his wife looking after us. Fritha had the bed next to mine. Fritha: do you remember the game we used to play before lights-out, skidding under the beds across the highly polished linoleum in our pyjams? Hope you are well. I am here in South Africa, still working as GM at Rob Roy Retirement Village, near Durban. Best wishes.

Sir Bernard Chacksfield was the Hon. Organizer of the Thirteenth Paris Cultural Holiday in the spring of 1966. I had no idea at the time that he was such an important figure in the RAF and that he was to become so influential in the Scouting field.

Sir Bernard Chacksfield was my father. I did not know that this portrait was in NPG - if you let me know what type of information you require, I can certainly let you have it
