Willard Wigan

(1957-), Sculptor

Sitter in 1 portrait
Internationally renown micro artist, celebrated in the Guinness Book of World Records. Born in Wolverhampton, Wigan struggled with undiagnosed dyslexia, mild autism and subsequently taunts from peers. He found comfort in creating art that could not easily be seen with the naked eye with the notion that if his work could not be seen it could not be criticised. He describes his work as 'a reflection' of himself, how he could not express himself as a youngster and felt as if he was 'nothing'. His art tries to show that there is 'no such thing as nothing' and that even little things can have a big impact. The scale and attention to detail challenges people to look closer, in order to inspire and help others realise their own potential.
