Juergen Teller was born in Erlangen, Germany. After a short time as an apprentice bow maker, he began his career as a photographer. He studied at the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt für Photographie in Munich (1984-1986), then moved to London in 1986. His ad campaigns include work for Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang, Yves Saint Laurent and Calvin Klein. He has photographed amongst others, Charlotte Rampling, Pele, Kate Moss, William Eggleston, Kurt Cobain, Bjork, Elton John and Arnold Shwarzenegger. Recent exhibitions include: Louis XV, Contemporary Fine Arts, Berlin, 2005; Fashioning Fiction, MoMA, New York, 2004; Ich bin vierzig, Kunsthalle Wien, 2004, and an exhibition at The Cartier Foundation, Paris, 2006.
