Born in Italy, Mitidieri studied Photojournalism at the London College of Printing. His photographic projects include coverage of the Tiananmen Square massacre and street children of Bombay. He was named Photographer of the Year - British Press Awards (1989) and won the W. Eugene Smith Award for Humanistic Photography (1991).
