Cornelius Lequesne

Police Constable Lequesne was born in Aughadown, County Cork, Ireland. He was the second of three children born to Cornelius Le Quesne and Mary McCarthy. Following a fourteen-year career in the Royal Navy, he joined the Metropolitan Police Force on 29 September 1897 and was assigned to 'A Division' (Westminster) as PC 559. When he retired on 4 March 1906 as PC 168 working in 'D Division' (Marylebone), Lequesne had completed twenty-six years and 157 days of service. He spent his remaining years in County Cork and died unmarried. He is buried in St Finbarr's Cemetery, Cork City.
