Godfrey John Webb (1832-1901), known as 'Webber', was the son of Colonel Robert Smith Webb of Milford House, Godalming, Surrey. He was a poet, a member of 'The Souls' group, and reportedly a 'batchelor cousin' of Wilfred Scawen Blunt. He worked as a clerk in the House of Lords. He is described as "a much-loved 'raconteur and wit'...the 'doyen' and 'court jester' of The Souls".
