Oil by Phillips commissioned by the Royal Astronomical Society exhibited RA 1839 (35); mezzotint by Lupton of which copies were presented to each Fellow, and vignette by F. Storm in John Britton's Autobiography (1848).

1848
Marble bust by E. H. Baily in Royal Astronomical Society exhibited RA 1849 (1319) - 'a faithful and charming reproduction of features we have so often seen in this place …' (Herschel cited in Dreyer and Turner, History of the Royal Astronomical Society 1820 to 1920, 1923, pp 83-4). A copy of Baily's bust was destroyed in the Crystal Palace fire of 1936.
