Science and Technology
This room sees gathered together some of the greatest figures of the Victorian period, a period where science and technology affected the lives of people to an unprecedented degree. One wall in this room is dominated by the three-quarter length portraits of the naturalists Charles Darwin and Sir Richard Owen and the biologist Thomas Huxley. Engineering is represented on another wall with Robert Stephenson and technological advances on another wall with portraits of Michael Faraday and Joseph Lister.Room introduction
