This room sees portraits hung at projected angles from the wall, creating a zig-zag pattern, allowing pairs of portraits to be seen together. Portraits of the dramatist Gilbert and composer collaborator Sullivan are brought together in this way. Other highlights in the room are a portrait of Louise Jopling by Millais and on the end wall Lady Colin Campbell by Boldini. Sir Henry Irving and Robert Louis Stevenson are included in sets of bronze busts on plinths and there is a room length wallcase for special displays, currently on is Mrs Patrick Campbell 1865 - 1940 and William Holman Hunt 1827 - 1910.
