A copy made in about 1927 from the whole length standing figure of Oglethorpe in the group, 'The Georgia Council', by William Verelst, c.1735-36, formerly in the Shaftesbury family collection, and now belonging to the Winterthur Museum in Delaware. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
