Sharon Turner is the subject of an ODNB article. The donor of his portrait, Sharon Grote Turner, was, his grandson, and, like his grandfather, a London solicitor who specialised in copyright law, He himself was the son of Sharon's best known offspring, Rev. Sydney Turner, esteemed for his progressive views on juvenile institutions (he was for some years an inspector of reformatories). Sharon's great-grandson was Saxon Sydney-Turner, a minor figure in the Bloomsbury Group, who in 1930 failed to persuade his friend Virginia Woolf to have the Hogarth Press publish his grandfather's diary.
