Painter; studied and worked abroad, coming under the influence of Gauguin at Pont-Aven, 1893-4. Bevan settled in London, 1900, and became a founder member of the Camden Town Group, 1911. His subject matter is dominated by street scenes, cab yards and horse sales. The painting can be dated from the patches on the wall where sketches had been hung. These were covered over by the redecoration of Bevan's house in 1914.
