A rare work by Francis Kyte, signed and dated, but apparently a copy, as indicated by the traces of squaring beneath the paint. The portrait relates to Houbraken's engraving. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
