Perhaps the portrait mentioned by Marischal in 1733 when on a mission to Madrid for the 'Old Pretender'. The castle in the background is the family seat of Dunothar in Scotland. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
