The portrait is perhaps a late 18th or early 19th century copy of a larger picture in a private collection. It shows Pocock in Flag Officer's full dress uniform with a telescope and, over his shoulder, the crimson ribbon of a Knight of the Bath. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
