It was Kaye's suggestion that he be painted by Paul Brason because of his admiration for the artist's double portrait of Sir Roy Strong. In this portrait he is depicted as if looking out into his garden towards his beloved golden Labrador 'Barley'. 'Barley' had been acquired from a shop in Kaye's local town of Odiham and was pronounced by a leading dog behaviour specialist to be 'a dream dog'. The bird in the cage is not real but an antique mechanical one from his collection. Commissioned by the Trustees.
