Watercolour and pencil, signed and dated 1835. Rochard, a French artist who avoided army conscription in 1815 by escaping to Brussels and eventually to London, received his training at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. In London, he was able to establish a lucrative practice catering to fashionable court and society circles, producing minatures and informal watercolour portraits. One of a set of three drawings by Rochard.
