Mansfield is shown in his office at the University of Nottingham, where he is Emeritus Professor of Physics. A postcard of Shankland's portrait, The Miracle, which won the BP Portrait Award in 2004 can be seen on Mansfield's desk. It shows the artist's wife and son, who underwent MRI scans due to a life threatening condition when he was born.
