Sopraan bij het hoforkest in Wenen. Zong er van 1713-1714, zonder loon, en werd per 1.6.1717 ingehuurd; Pensionering in 1740. Van 1697 getrouwd met Antoni Schoonjans († 1726/08/13 Wien) uit Antwerpen / B, die in 1695 hofschilder was in Wenen.In 1696 ondernam ze een reis naar Kopenhagen, 1702 naar Berlijn (met G. Bononcini) en 1704 naar Nederland (Den Haag, Amsterdam). Ze was aan het Weense hof een van de drukste en best betaalde zangeressen; tussen 1714 (Alba Cornelia F. Conti) en 1733 (A. Caldara Demofoonte van) verschijnt haar naam in tal van opera’s, kleinere festivals di camera of oratoria (Il Trionfo della Fede als JJ Fux, 1716, Il Re del Dolore [ 1722] van A. Maria Regina est une soprano de renom réputée pour sa beauté frappante, au point que son époux le peintre Antoni Schoonians, anversois d’origine, refuse de la laisser voyager seule (portrait de G. Bononcini par Schoonians, ci-dessous).
Giovanni BononciniC’est donc ensemble que le couple offre ses services artistiques : Mr Schoonians devient peintre officiel à la cour de Vienne en 1695, mais Regina n’y chante pas. On l’entend en revanche à Copenhague en 1696, à Berlin en 1702 au service de Sophie Charlotte de Prusse, où elle chante Bononcini avec la souveraine et les castrats Antonio Tosi et Chiaravalle, puis La Haye et Amsterdam en 1704.
La reine Sophie Charlotte écrit ainsi (en français dans le texte) :
J’en rejouis Madame l’électrice [Sophie de Hannovre, sa mère] qui est ici depuis quelques jours dans la meilleure santé du monde. Elle prend plaisir à voir mes commédiens dont vous connaissez la capacité et va aussi à une petite pastorale qui à mon gré est tres jolie, car Bononcini qui est au rois de Romains l’a composée et a une femme de Vienne avec lui, mariée à un peintre, qui y chant, qui a la plus belle voix que j’ai entendue depuis longtemps.
Son nom commence à apparaître sur les livret viennois à compter de 1714 (Alba Cornelia de Conti), et ses prestations sont très nombreuses jusqu’en 1733, où elle prend part au Demofoonte de Métastase et Caldara. Elle doit affronter la concurrence de Maria Landini dans les années 1710, mais ses apparitions sont paradoxalement moins fréquentes à la mort de celle-ci, en 1722. Le poste de prima donna demeure vacant, et attribué finalement à Marianna Lorenzani. En outre, Regina est veuve à partir de 1726. Néanmoins, la fidèle soprano reste employée impériale jusqu’en 1740 environ : on la retrouve au cours des années 1730 dans plusieurs œuvres de Reutter et Porsile.
