Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders met while studying at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London and formed the comedy duo ‘French and Saunders’. They shared a flat and began performing at comedy clubs before breaking into television as part of The Comic Strip. Their own series, French and Saunders (1987 to 2007), made them two of the most popular comics in Britain. This photograph was taken as part of Jillian Edelstein’s ‘Affinities’ series of professional friendships.
